Former Canadian porn star Sunny Leone started her career with a Penthouse pictorial, immediately being named Penthouse Pet of the Month. She was also Penthouse Pet of the Year in 2003. Following that, Sunny featured in several such magazines like Hustler, Cheri, Swank, and High Society among others. Later on, Sunny signed a three-year contract with Vivid Entertainment, on terms that she would only do lesbian hardcore porn. Her first movie, titled “Sunny”, was released in December 2005. Her next movie, Virtual Vivid Girl Sunny Leone, was the first interactive title for Leone, who was the first Vivid Girl to make such a movie. This movie won her a first AVN Award for Best Interactive DVD. She followed this with Sunny Loves Cher, which featured her first on-screen squirting, and The Female Gardner co-starring Mikayla Mendez and Daisy Marie.
She has since made a name for herself in lesbian films, winning several awards for her porn films and endorsing sex-stimulating products. It was much later that she agreed to perform with men on camera, although for a very long time she remained exclusive to her then fiancé Matt Erikson. She later announced the launch of her own studio, Sunlust Pictures.
In 2010, Sunny was named by Maxim as one of the 12 top female stars in porn. She was voted number 82 in the Top 99 Women for 2012 in AskMen.com's list.
